12.781 new companies were registered in Cyprus during 2019. More specifically, the total number of new business entities that were registered in the Registrar of Companies during the period from 1st of January to 31st of December 2019 entails the following:

According to data from Registrar of Companies, it is noted that there is an upward trend from 2006 to 2013. In the years 2014 to 2016, there is a declining trend mainly due to the update of the Registrar and delisting of non-compliant companies. It should be noted that in 2017 has again started the uptrend with a slight decrease in 2018.

Overall, the number of registered companies has increased by approximately 60,000 during the above mentioned period.

Cyprus remains a favorable environment for the development and operation of new businesses. Key factors for this are the low taxation of Cypriot companies and the rapid process of starting a new company.
